Each Tuesday night, from September through mid-May, Woodside’s Troy campus holds an in-depth Community Bible Study for men, women and couples.

Taught by Woodside Communications Pastor and Teaching Team member Mike Wendland, the 2008-2009 study will be on the book of Genesis.

Since its inception, the philosophy of Community Bible Study has always been that it is every person’s Bible study, available to all. Each man, woman, youth, and child will be so cared for and loved that all will feel comfortable in their class regardless of background, education, church involvement, ethnicity, or economic status. Our desire is to build unity in the midst of diversity in our community.

Community Bible Study makes every effort to stand in the center of the mainstream of historic Christianity. We concentrate on the essentials of the Christian faith, not on denominational distinctives. As we grow in our love and respect for one another we learn that Christians can hold differing views on matters that are not essential to salvation. Regardless of these differences, we learn to love and care for each other as we grow in our knowledge of the Bible and in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

The focus of Community Bible Study is to glorify God. Leaders are volunteers who are called by God to their roles, and give of their time and talents out of love for Him. Shepherding occurs at every level so that each individual feels connected and cared for and does not operate in isolation. Each leader is trained for his/her role. Regional and Area Directors, Teaching Directors, Associate Teaching Directors, Coordinators, and Children’s Directors must attend National Training. Local class leaders are trained by their Servant’s Team at the beginning of each class year.

In Woodside’s “Love & Respect” program, (by Dr. Emerson Eggerichs), experienced couples will guide you through a 10-week video series that will teach you steps that can make your marriage everything God wants it to be.

Authentic Christian community is essential for healthy and balanced Christian growth. Therefore, small groups are of vital importance. They provide a sense of belonging. This is where you can make friends and get encouraged in your walk with the Lord.

Why Join a Small Group?

It is Biblical
- Jesus Christ had a group of twelve (his small group)
- Church in New Testament times was done in small groups (Acts 2:46 & Rom. 16:5)

Fosters Relationships
- To form authentic Christian relationships
- To feel a sense of belonging
- To do life together (Gal. 6:2)

For Spiritual Growth
- Authentic Christian community is essential for balanced spiritual growth

How Do I Join?
- GATEWAY is the entrance to small groups at Woodside Bible Church.
- GATEWAY is a two hour event where you meet and connect with others to form a new group or join an existing one.
- GATEWAY will be held approximately every 2-3 months.
- GATEWAY is our attempt to allow you to connect organically with others.

What is Our Small Group Philosophy?

Vision
Create small group environments that foster sustainable community and inspire growth in our relationships with Jesus Christ, resulting in the retention of our people and the growth of our church.

Goal
The goal is to encourage organic community allowing the groups a significant amount of autonomy while keeping them connected, nourished, and accountable to the larger body of Christ at Woodside.

Objective
- Groups meet on a regular basis.
- Group members feel a sense of belonging to the group and the wider body of Christ at Woodside.
- Group members are growing deeper in their relationship with each other and with the Lord.
- There is a well organized structure in place for easy signup and assimilation into our small group ministry (Gateway).

What will We Be Studying?
All groups are autonomous within the small group structure at Woodside Bible Church. Each group is responsible for choosing additional curriculum under the supervision of their Small Group Coordinator.

- ReGroup by Henry Cloud, Bill Donahue, and John Townsend. (www.willowcreek.com)
- Focus on the Family’s The Truth Project (www.thetruthproject.org)
