Modules 4-7 Schedule – Winter/Spring 2012
Luke wrote that the church devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers (Acts 2:42). Paul wrote that leaders are to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God (Ephesians 4:12-13). The author of Hebrews wrote that we need to keep moving forward in our spiritual journey and continue learning more and more about Christ when he said let us leave the elementary doctrine of Christ and go on to maturity (Hebrews 6:1).
We are meant to Grow in Christ!
And Growing in Christ means we devote ourselves to the truths found in the Word of God. We let the Scriptures shape who we are, what we do, how we work, how we parent and how we think. We let the Scriptures speak into every part of our lives.
And as the Bible shapes our identity, we move forward in our faith. We become more mature in Christ.
Thrive is an all-new experience this fall on Wednesday nights that is devoted to this mission. Thrive is a vital part of our church and helps accomplish our mission as a church of helping people Belong to Christ, Grow in Christ and Reach the world for Christ. We want you to be equipped to do the mission God has called you to. We want you to discover and learn and experience the Word of God. We want you to absorb God’s message because we know that anyone who sincerely seeks God’s truth will be changed!
Here’s how it works.
Thrive classes are grouped into five categories: God (The Bible and Theology), Health (Spiritual, Physical, Emotional), Family (Relationships, Parenting, Legacy), Mission (Missiology, Neighborhood Groups, Reaching the World) and Wisdom (Apologetics, Church History, Finances).
Classes are offered in four-week blocks that we call modules. During the school year, September through May, we will have seven modules of courses. Some classes are spread out over multiple modules. For example, Introduction to the Pentateuch at Royal Oak is a eight-week survey that is broken down into two four-week sections.
Why are we offering courses in four-week modules? Well, for a lot of reasons.
(1) We want you to have the freedom to join a class without having to make a long-term commitment. Some seasons of life are busier than others and we want you to participate with us when your schedule allows.
(2) We want to give you the freedom to serve in a ministry on Wednesday nights for a few months during the school year.
(3) We want to constantly capture new individuals.
(4) We want to keep the classes fresh and allow topics to be shaped by our moving culture.
(5) Finally, we want every Woodside attendee and member to join us in a weekend worship service, serve in a ministry and participate in a neighborhood group. So, we don’t want Thrive to take people away from these other vital aspects to our church.

Our Expectations
We want to make sure that each of us plays our part in making our Wednesday nights at Woodside a reality. This means we need you to serve. We offer seven four-week modules during the school year and our expectation is that you serve during at least two of these modules. That means we’d love for you to join us for five classes and help support our ministries by serving during two modules.
We need volunteers in children’s ministry, café, technical arts, hosting and other areas. Please sign up to serve at the Belong, Grow, Reach table in the lobby.
