Life Verse: Romans 5:1-6
Birthday: January 12
Education: Diploma from Pontiac Business Institute
Brief History: I was born in Oaklawn, Illinois, my mom moved us back to Michigan when I was two. I grew up in Pontiac, which is now considered Auburn Hills. I graduated from Pontiac Northern High School.
Started at Woodside: I have been on staff here at Woodside Bible Church since April of 2005.
Christian Testimony: When I was pregnant with Dane I was single and alone, I needed a place to live and the Crossroads Pregnancy Center had a program for single mothers. They placed me in a home with a Christian family, Tom & Carol Witte, it was their influence in my life that showed me I didn't have to be miserable all the time, that I was lovable, and that God cared no matter what I had done in the past, my future could be different. One of the stipulations of living in their home was that I had to attend church with them on Sunday. I wanted to feel loved and I didn't want to be alone anymore and God really used their Pastor to speak directly to me. I accepted Christ during a Sunday service and Carol immediately started a Bible Study with me. She said it was important to know God's word, and keep it close to my heart because there would be difficult things ahead and I needed to know what God's promises were.
Major Influences: I think Tom & Carol were major influences in my life, they not only shared Christ with me, but they made sure I was grounded before they let me go. My friends Mary Cobbett, JoAnn Woyak, and Jonnitra Bland, have always listened and directed in the way I should go. They are all Godly woman and I am encouraged daily by them.
Ministry Focus: To welcome new families to Woodside Bible Church, with a smile and a friendly attitude. My volunteers are sometimes the first impression people have of Woodside so I try to make sure their questions are answered and that they know where they are going.
Ministry Goals: My goal for the Children's Welcome Desk is to create an environment that equips our volunteers with the necessary tools to welcome new families to Woodside and give them the information they need so that they can attend the service knowing that their children are comfortable and safe.
