Education: University of Michigan B.A. Psychology and Philosophy. I've done post graduate study at Westminster Seminary in Philadelphia, Grand Rapids Baptist Seminary and most recently Michigan Theological Seminary where I completed a master's degree in theological studies.
Brief History: I was born and raised in Traverse City, Michigan where I lived until going to college. I attended Pillsbury Baptist Bible College, Northwestern Michigan College and Central Michigan University before graduating from U of M Flint in 1971.
Started at Woodside: In 1995
Christian Testimony: I was saved at 12 years old in a membership class at a new church in Traverse City, at the time, Bethany Baptist Church. Pastor James Grider led me to the Lord.
Major Influences: My friend Phil Nelson was a great mentor for me in my initial years as a Christian. I have had many people along the way help me, like Al and Ruth. But my wife, Nancy, is my spiritual partner. My children and their spouses are my valued advisers.
Ministry Focus: The Lord called me to serve him immediately upon my salvation but He wanted me to work in the plastics industry for 28 years, raise my children Chris and Carey with my wife Nancy, work in kids programs and teach AFG's. All this happened before He directed me through Pastor Doug to minister vocationally in our wonderful church.
Ministry Goals: The body of Christ is diverse and multi-talented by His design. The linking of believers together to minister interactively is my vision and purpose. This I hope to accomplish by working through the pastoral staff, eager volunteers and by developing communication systems. I appreciate your prayers.
