Hill, Dr. Judy

Dr. Judy Hill’s current assignment is at the Bangui Evangelical School of Theology (B.E.S.T.), in Bangui, Central African Republic. This is her 18th year as a professor of New Testament and Greek. She teaches some undergraduate courses as well as teaches at the Master’s level.

The school, established by the Association of Evangelicals for the continent of Africa, has all of French-speaking Africa as its base. There are now graduates from 17 different African nations.  The school’s professors come from various countries in Africa as well as from Europe, North America, and Asia.

The undergraduate program provides two main tracks.  One is basic seminary training, opening the way for a variety of Christian ministries.  The other is a specialized track in Bible translation, for those who will return to their home country to be involved in putting the biblical text in the language of their people.  At the Master’s level, there are three concentrations: Biblical Studies, Theology, and Missiology, each preparing specialists in those fields.

Dr. Hill’s previous assignments with SIM, beginning in 1974, were in Ethiopia and in Nigeria.

Her commitment to missions came when she was a teenager at First Baptist Church of Pontiac (now the White Lake Campus of Woodside Bible Church) and heard a missionary talk about how God could use all those who made themselves available to him for his service.
