Matthew 14:25-29 (NIV) During the fourth watch of the night Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It is a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear. But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus.
We are just ordinary people and similar to the disciples, afraid of the new or unknown. You may be interested in helping out somewhere but aren’t quite sure where and are hesitant to take the first step. If you are uncertain as to how to get started and you want to “walk on water,” then you’ve “got to get out of the boat.” Keep in mind that the disciples were in the boat watching, but Peter “walked on the water.”
We are all different and have many skills that could be used in the Woodside Worldwide program. For information about opportunities to use your skills and gifts serving God through missions, contact Lexie Schwarze at missions@woodsidebible.org.
