Of Purpose for Worldwide Missions
To advance the mission of Woodside Bible Church in all its global endeavors and to build the Kingdom as directed by Jesus Christ in the Great Commission.
Woodside Bible Church Mission Statement
To honor God by bringing lives into harmony with Him and one another in worship, fellowship, evangelism and discipleship.
Primary Results
The best measurable indicator of the health of Woodside Bible Church’s Worldwide Missions outreach is gauged by the number of Woodside members actively involved in fulfilling the Great Commission.
Woodside Bible Church Missions Philosophy
We believe that in order to accomplish our purpose:
-
Woodside will invest its greatest resource in missions, our best people, as separated by the church and called by God.
-
A passion for Worldwide Missions must be communicated to our youngest children and oldest adults.
-
It is the responsibility of Woodside Bible Church to directly and intentionally give pastoral care to the missionaries whom it has commissioned.
-
Strategic partnerships with indigenous pastors and churches must be explored and developed.
Core Values
People: Jesus Christ died for people; therefore, Woodside Bible Church will send people to reach people through vocational and short term missions.
Nations: Although we value mission works in every nation, we are extremely passionate about reaching those nations with the least amount of Light, but where the Gospel can have the greatest impact through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Causes: There are conditions and causes in our world that demand our attention. We will respond to these conditions and causes as commanded by our Lord in order to reach those in need on a physical and spiritual level.
Objectives of Missions at Woodside Bible Church
There are three primary objectives of Woodside Bible Church in accomplishing the task of Worldwide Missions.
-
Church Planting: Christ established the church at Pentecost and it is the objective of Woodside Bible Church to establish, support and serve with indigenous churches wherever Woodside missionaries are sent
-
Encouragement: We will intentionally encourage our missionary ministry partners abroad and during home service.
-
Leadership Development: Woodside will train leaders at every level, at home and abroad, in order to utilize spiritual gifts and strengths to build the Kingdom of God.
Explanation of Objectives
Church Planting: Christ established the church at Pentecost and it is the objective of Woodside Bible Church to establish, support and serve with indigenous churches wherever Woodside missionaries are sent.
-
Jesus Christ ordained the church to not only guard the truth, but also to proclaim it. Therefore, Woodside will endeavor to send and support those Missionaries whose objective is the establishment of local indigenous churches. We will identify those within our current missionary family whose purpose is to birth new churches. We will enter into renewable, four year agreements with these missionaries for the purpose of encouragement, accountability and review in order to promote their success and our commitment to their work. Examples would include the Gascho, Szymczak, Muha and Collesano families.
-
We will seek out Indigenous Partners, independent of our missionary family, and partner with them and their churches through financial support, training and Short Term Mission (STM) teams. An example would be Ramiro Maldonado in Quito, Ecuador. It is the goal of the Ministry of Missions at Woodside Bible Church to ad one Indigenous Partner a year to a renewable four year commitment.
-
We will identify Special Projects teamed with the local church for a specific task for a pre-determined time to extend the ministry of evangelism in their respective area. Examples would include the ministry of Leaders in Obscurity in India and the Ahka Light Foundation in Thailand. It is the goal of the Ministry of Missions at Woodside Bible Church to ad one Special Project a year to a renewable four year commitment.
Encouragement: We will intentionally encourage our missionary ministry partners abroad and during home service.
-
Short Term Missions teams will be strategically sent for the purpose of “Creating personal and Kingdom building relationships with our active missionaries world wide; to bless and support them and their goals while acquainting and involving our people in their ministries.”
-
Annual Pastoral Visits will be made to missionaries commissioned by Woodside Bible Church on a rotating basis for the purpose of encouragement, pastoral ministry and exposure to our missionaries and their families and ministries. Optional visits will be made to the remaining missionary units only after our Woodside family missionary’s needs are met.
-
Core Support Teams will be established for the purpose of regular and systematic ministry to missionaries commissioned by Woodside Bible Church. A Core Support Team is a small group that will be the primary link between the church family and the missionary family for the purpose of prayer and physical or emotional needs during foreign or home service.
-
A Communications Team will be responsible for the management of IMLINK, Missionary Awareness, Print Media and Special Events.
Leadership Development: Woodside will train leaders at every level, at home and abroad, in order to utilize spiritual gifts and strengths to build the Kingdom of God.
- Woodside is committed to being a “sending church” as it relates to developing vocational missionaries from its congregation. Therefore, a Leadership Development Strategy will be produced to encourage people at the earliest ages to see their responsibility of personal evangelism as well as worldwide evangelism.
- We will utilize the expertise of those missionaries within the Woodside family who have demonstrable Leadership Development qualities to Strategize and Develop Categories of Strengths that can be deployed across all of our mission’s endeavors.
- Plan and implement the process of leading a missionary candidate from Affirmation to Calling to Deputation to Commissioning.
- The Strategic Planning Counsel, having submitted an approved job description to the Elder Board, executes this Masterplan for Missions. The SPC will have five members who are appointed by the Board of Elders. The SPC will be responsible for, but not limited to the following as directed by the Elders.
*Revision of written policy and formulation of the WBC Masterplan for Missions
*Allocation of all funds to missionaries and missionary programs.
*Evaluate practices and principles of the missionaries, mission agencies, and programs we support. Their Statement of Faith should be consistent with that of WBC and its Masterplan *for missions. The SPC may recruit and appoint an Evaluation Sub-Committee to assist them in this process.
*Review applications and interview missionary candidates. The approval and addition of new missionaries to the WBC Missions Family are subject to Elder and Senior Pastor review. *Provide annual budget recommendation to the Executive Pastor and the Deacons Finance Committee.
*Commission sub-committees to execute the Masterplan.
